Logging and wood products manufacturing are still the most visible face of British Columbia, with sawmilling ranking as the province's biggest manufacturing industry.

A key characteristic of this industry is its resilience and ability to raise productivity and increase its competitiveness in the face of new challenges.

Challenge

Canfor contacted BM&M with the goal of increasing valuable fiber recovery with a tight installation footprint.

Solution

The equipment selected was a BM&M 10’ wide x 14’ long 3-Deck “Twin Fines” Counterflow Chip Screen for their Clear Lake Division. The unique “Twin Fines” model utilizes a total of 28’ of deck length in a reduced 14’ footprint, effectively doubling the fines removal capability, producing:

  • Increased Fiber Recovery Rates
  • Reduced Residual Fines Waste.
